 AUGUST 2006:
Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate
www.oblatesusa.org
As a faith-based organization, we turn to Our Blessed Mother and strive to follow her example of doing God's will. The Missionary Oblates are made up of nearly 4,500 Oblate priests and brothers working in 71 countries. We build communities of faith so people in far reaches of the world have opportunities for prayer and worship, as well as the chance to gather in support of one another.

The Missionary Oblates are made up of nearly 4,500 Oblate priests and brothers working in 71 countries.

We share the message of our founder, St. Eugene De Mazenod, who dared to dream of a better world for the poor by putting their needs before the needs of those in higher social classes.

In each new mission, we have established seminaries to train and educate future priests and brothers. We build churches, offer quiet places of prayer and renewal, travel to remote villages to administer the sacraments, teach religious education, and promote non-violence, acceptance, and understanding through interfaith initiatives.

Our ministries are as varied as the people we serve. By living and working among those in need, we are able to experience their hopes and their hurts ·and from this experience, we are able to help meet basic needs. We build homes, teach improved farming techniques, establish clinics, schools, and radio communication centers. We care for the orphaned, the elderly, and the oppressed. We promote peace and justice and the dignity of all people.

Since our founding in 1816, members of our congregation have worked steadily to help others. Today, as our world faces many challenges, we continue to reach out to those most in need.
